Engr. Aamir Hasan , Member, PMIC
Engr. Aamir Hasan has recently retired as a Federal Secretary. By qualification Mr. Hasan holds the degrees of B.Sc. Engineering (Civil) from University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore and MA (Eco) in Development Administration and Management from University of Manchester, UK. He also holds a Certificate in Organizational Culture and Management from Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands.
Mr. Hasan reached the apex of Civil Service, BS-22 in 26 years of service and thus became one of the youngest Federal Secretaries at the age of 52. His first posting in BS-22 was as Managing Director, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority in February, 2016. After that he served as Federal Secretary of two important Ministries – Ministry of National Heritage and Culture – (December, 2016 – July, 2019) and Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development – (September, 2019 – June, 2020).
Engr. Aamir Hasan was posted as Secretary of National Security Division (which is directly under the charge of the Prime Minister) on 28th July, 2020. He was also the Secretary of the National Security Committee (NSC), the apex national security body of the country, headed by the Prime Minister and including the top political and military leadership. He was also the Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board of the NSC which includes leading think tanks including Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), Institute of Strategic Studies, Research & Analysis (ISSRA), Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) and Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS).
During his tenure as Secretary, NSD the first ever National Security Policy was approved and NSD was declared as one of the top ten high performing Ministries. The Islamabad Security Dialogue was also launched which was attended by national and international speakers and top civilian and military leadership of the country. The ISD has now become a regular feature and is included in the subjects allotted to NSD in the Rules of Business.
Mr. Hasan Joined the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission as member on 12th December, 2023.
